Before joining House Institute Foundation, she served as a Project Manager in Epidemiologic Research, and Clinical Research Supervisor and Administrative Director for Maternal, Pediatric, and Adult Infectious Diseases at the University of Southern California. She has coauthored 19 publications and has contributed substantially to dozens of research projects that mainly focused on the indigent populations of Los Angeles.

Sean Lang
Clinical Research Coordinator
Sean Lang BS is a clinical research coordinator at the House Institute Foundation. He received his BS in Neuroscience and Spanish at the University of Michigan in 2019. After a short stint as a Peace Corps volunteer in Guatemala, which was interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, he worked on numerous COVID-19 and HIV trials as a clinical research coordinator at the University of Colorado Anschutz.
His work at the House Institute Foundation – supporting research in cochlear implants, pediatric hearing health, Ménière’s disease, acoustic neuroma, and other conditions – engages his interests in language, communication, and neuroscience. He doesn’t like olives but he does like climbing.

Shemms Najjar
Hearing Science Accelerator (HSA) Coordinator
Shemms Najjar is the Hearing Science Accelerator (HSA) Coordinator at the House Institute Foundation. She received her bachelor’s in Human Biology & Society and Anthropology at UCLA in 2020. In 2023, she earned her M.P.H at UC Irvine, where she worked as a researcher, participating in public health studies with a focus on infectious disease transmission and the bioethics of selling unlicensed stem cells in the US. She brings her research skills and experience to help facilitate the HSA and collaborate with hearing science experts. In her free time, she loves trying new foods, exploring new places, and watching historical documentaries.
