Role Summary
House Children’s Hearing Center is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist & Auditory Verbal Therapist (SLP-AVT) to join our multi-disciplinary team. This role involves conducting thorough speech and language evaluations, setting precise treatment goals, and delivering Auditory-Verbal Therapy to children with hearing loss. Collaboration with audiologists, patient navigators, and ENT surgeons is essential for holistic patient care. The ideal candidate should possess strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, adaptability, effective time management, and alignment with HIF’s mission and values.
Essential Responsibilities
CLINICAL CARE:
- Provide comprehensive speech and language evaluations for children with hearing loss. This includes speech and language evaluations for cochlear implant candidates.
- Develop appropriate, measurable treatment goals and associated recommendations based on evaluation results.
- Provide regular Auditory-Verbal Therapy to patients with hearing aids and/or cochlear implants.
- Establish patient and family understanding of expectations, treatment goals and outcomes of therapy.
- Effectively train, communicate, and educate families and caregivers of patients throughout the evaluation and treatment process.
- Communicate and collaborate with audiologists, patient navigators, and other staff to provide comprehensive care to patients.
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES:
- Document assessments, treatments, and all relevant and required patient care information in the electronic health record in a timely manner, in accordance with clinical policies.
- Participate in team meetings and department projects, as needed.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain good public relations.
- Exercise confidentiality to ensure compliance with all HIPAA and OSHA regulations.
- Keep current with trends and research in the field of therapy services as it relates to hearing loss.
- May require some travel to other clinics pending expansion of services.
Qualifications
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Master’s degree or equivalency in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited education program.
- Current California Speech-Language Pathology License.
- Current LSL Specialist Certified Auditory-Verbal Therapist
- ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence
- CCS paneled (preferred)
- Experience working with children with hearing aids, BAHDs and cochlear implants.
