When Shayna was just 11 months old, her mother banged a pot, and Shayna didn’t react. That moment launched a journey filled with fear, advocacy, and resilience.
After months of searching for answers, Shayna’s family found the House Institute Foundation. There, she received hearing aids, speech therapy, and a cochlear implant from Dr. William Luxford.
Shayna didn’t just find her voice—she discovered her purpose.
Today, she’s a medical resident at Stanford, on the path to becoming a neurotologist. Inspired by the care that changed her life, she’s now training to help others hear the world around them and find the confidence, connection, and future that come with it.
