
John J. Galvin III
PhD
John Galvin, PhD is a research scientist at the House Institute Foundation. He has been a cochlear implant (CI) researcher for more than 25 years. He has pursued many research interests, including psychophysical studies, speech perception (English and other languages), spatial perception, music perception, and auditory training. He was a researcher at the House Ear Institute from 1998-2013, then at UCLA from 2013-2018, and has been at the House Institute Foundation since 2018. Most-recently, his research has been focused on combined acoustic and electric hearing, especially in single-sided deaf cochlear implant patients.
Education
John Galvin received his BA from Hampshire College in Amherst, MA and his PhD from University of Groningen in the Netherlands.
