Following the most recent Hearing Science Accelerator (HSA) cycle on Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss (SSNHL), The HSA workshop was reviewed with the top research questions presented at the Combined Otolaryngology Spring Meetings (COSM), on May 15-19, 2024, in Chicago, IL.
What is COSM?
COSM is an annual meeting of Otolaryngologists (ear, nose, and throat physicians) to discuss, disseminate, and exchange the latest research. Experts come from across the world to listen and learn from various presenters to ultimately enhance their state of knowledge and quality of care.
Who attended? What happened at COSM?
Dr. William Slattery, House Institute Foundation HSA director, along with the HSA SSNHL steering committee members, Dr. Seth Schwartz and Dr. Andrea Vambutas, and scientific writer, Dr. Nick Andresen, presented the overview of the HSA SSNHL at the conference. The results of the HSA in-person workshop held in Washington D.C. April 2023, were presented to the worldwide Otolaryngology community. This presentation received an overwhelming positive response with multiple participants actively volunteering to help with the HSA process. With the dissemination of the workshop results at COSM, we are recruiting other Otolaryngology experts to help address and answer the research questions. We are implementing a series of workgroup meetings to address each question in more detail.
